Music Instruction Books and Folios
I started as Junior Music Editor (1993) for a major music publisher where I was promoted to Senior Music Editor (1996), Publications Director Latin Division (2001) and, finally, to Managing Editor (2003). I’ve also written articles and reviews for magazines, published 14 music instruction methods and served as a ghost writer for over 70 folios. Below you’ll find some of the projects that I’ve had the privilege of working on.

My Successes

  • Founded Spanish-language division which accounted for $100K+ of yearly revenue
    • Supervised three line editors and team of freelancers
    • Created and maintained heavy production schedule
    • Successfully increased production by 30%
    • Acquired authors and talent, and negotiated terms of agreement
    • Created, developed, produced, and supervised over 800 book, CD, and DVD projects
    • Provided copy editing for catalog and promotional newsletters
    • Evaluated commerciality and integrity of product submissions intended for distribution
    • Produced and scripted instructional DVDs
    • Successfully created Guitar Deck Series which sells in excess of 200K units per year

Many artist-related folios need to be developed in cooperation with their management companies and I have acted as the liaison between the artists’ representatives, Music Sales, and the team of transcribers/arrangers.

Working with artists to maintain the integrity of the written archive of their work was the primary purpose of my role working with them. In addition, maintaining the commerciality of the work to appeal to the widest audience was a major concern and creating a balance between the two proved to be a challenging task.

Pro Music and Tech Books
The Pro & Quick Start series were developed in cooperation with Steinberg Press and Music Sales.
As the series titles suggest Pro Start was developed for experienced digital audio musicians and Quick Start was added as an introduction to those new to computers and music.
