This Spanish-language method introduces the techniques necessary for playing rock guitar.
My first series was based completely on my teaching experience. Having been a regular in both the Boston and NYC blues’ scenes, I became known as a blues player/guitar teacher. The “Songbook” is a stand-alone method with the “Rhythms” and “Solos” providing supplemental material for the specific topic mentioned in the title. The techniques discussed have all been student tested. And, at the time, I had a steady roster of 30–40 students per week, which provided much fodder for testing.
The special thing about the “Decks” is there realistic size and shape, and the flexibility of fanning out the pages. This provided a unique opportunity for reintroducing reference content (with a proven sales history), such as: chords, scales, and arpeggios—every guitarists bread and butter. The design and content development were my contributions and I’ve also written “The Guitar Deck Method” which will be available at NAMM 2007.
I envisioned a series for Latinos written by Latinos. Originally this series started out as simply a chord method, a scale method, and a guitar method. Each volume was written as a stand-alone book with the ability for the scale and chord books to function as supplementary material for the guitar method. Eventually, the series grew to include 16 books in total covering 8 different instruments. I aspire at becoming the Spanish Mel Bay.
